How to advertise your property
Why advertise your property with Loughborough University?
Students and their parents will have peace of mind about the standard of rented property being offered by Loughborough University's own accommodation team.
The Student Accommodation Centre co-ordinates all the accommodation services offered by the University with teams operating for on and off campus accommodation.
The off campus team has operated a Property Accreditation Scheme for the past eight years working closely with Charnwood Borough Council. The responsibility for landlord accreditation has now been taken over by Decent and Safe Homes (DASH) East Midlands. This new scheme, called the East Midlands Landlord Accreditation Scheme (EMLAS), accredits landlords rather than properties, and has the backing of Loughborough University and Charnwood Borough Council http://www.eastmidlandsdash.org.uk/accreditation.asp . Landlords are required to attend a one day training course covering property management based on the ANUK/IDeA landlord development manual and the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS). In addition, you are required to participate in a minimum of 10 hours continual professional development per year.
Any Landlord’s property accredited under the EMLAS Scheme will meet the minimum standards to provide a safe living environment. The premises will, for example, be in a good state of repair, meet relevant fire regulations, have appropriate gas and electrical safety certificates, and have study bedrooms of a specific standard.
The Student Accommodation Centre currently advertise or find tenants for almost 400 properties.
Malcolm Brown, Loughborough University Director of imago Services, said: "This scheme is designed to reassure prospective tenants and guide and advise landlords to the same goal - excellent student housing."
How to advertise your property with us
All landlords wishing to advertise properties with the Student Accommodation Centre at Loughborough University must be accredited by the East Midlands Landlords Accreditation Scheme (EMLAS). http://www.emlas.org.uk/ and provide us with their registration number.
We have listened to student feedback and identified their priorities when looking for accommodation. We have introduced a property grading scheme to reflect these priorities and identify properties that provide additional facilities over and above the already high standards expected.
All properties advertising for the first time, will be inspected by us and will be graded according to the facilities it offers. All of our individual properties are awarded either a or grade. Private Halls are not subject to the above grading scheme.
The services available to landlords are as follows:
Advertising Service ♦ Full marketing of property to 13,000 students ♦ Advertising on Studentpad including up to six photographs ♦ One or Two House property grading ♦ Inclusion on Housing Lists available as handouts to all students at several University locations and at promotional events ♦ Inclusion on lists of available properties displayed in the Student Accommodation Centre ♦ Studentpad advert renewable every 2 months until property let
Tenant Finder Service As Advertised plus: ♦ Continuous advertising until property is let ♦ Accompanied viewings arranged for prospective tenants (retention of keys for viewing) ♦ Provision of approved tenancy agreement ♦ Preparation and signing of tenancy agreements ♦ Collection of deposits ♦ Reminders when Gas and Electrical inspections are due ♦ Option of extra A4 feature advert
